1 Summary
The IPv6 Enhanced Council members met on May 23rd, 2023 under the Chairmanship of Pr Latif Ladid (Luxembourg University), the two Vice-Chairmen Dr. Will Liushucheng (Huawei), Dr. Carlos Ralli Ucendo (Telefonica) and the Coordinator Dr. Tayeb Ben Meriem (IPv6 Forum). 43 participants attended this First Plenary meeting. Opening talks have been given by three Speakers. The next Plenary meeting is scheduled on June 27th. 14:00 - 17:00 (CET)
2 Opening of the meeting (Chairman)
The Chairman, Pr Latif Ladid declared this First Plenary Meeting (KOM) of the IPv6 Enhanced Council open.
3 Introduction of IPv6 Enhanced Council and welcome of participants (Chairman)
The Chairman, Pr Latif Ladid welcome the attendees and highlighted the crucial role of the IPv6 Enhanced Council in supporting the implementation of Governments’IPv6 enacted Policies. He gave the floor to each participant for (self-introduction) to introduce him/ herself, company, and background. 43 members attended this KOM (First Plenary Meeting) including news members recently joined the IPv6 Enhance Council. The profiles of the attendees reflect the diversity of members from Operators, Regulators, Vendors, Verticals Players, Research Institutes, Universities. The Chairman expressed the need to open the Council to other categories of Stakeholders such as NGOs, Associations, Group of Citizens, …. IPv6 Enhanced Council has 123+ members worldwide. Table 2 lists the distribution per region.
The mission, scope and responsibility demarcation of the IPv6 Enhanced Council are clearly defined and described in the ToR (Termes of Reference). The IPv6 Enhanced Council is an Industrial Organization aiming at complementing the IETF work as Standard Maker in the same way GSMA is positioning wrt 3GPP. The IPv6 Enhanced Council as “Customer Facing” Body, studies the applicability of IETF IPv6-based RFCs then derives and provides the following deliverables to the Industry: • Use Cases • Challenges • e2e Reference Architecture • Deployment Frameworks and Practices • Guidelines • PoCs Program (Test & Certification)
The main benefits to members are but not limited to: • New Business Opportunities • Access to a Catalogue of Business Cases • Collective Voice to influence regulations, standardization and investments • Collaboration with Global Leading Partners
4 Opening Talks: Invited Speakers
The approach adopted by the Management Team is to invite 2 or 3 speakers at each Plenary meeting to share their experience within a dedicated opening talk session. Table 1 lists the 3 topics covering this session, and key messages delivered by the three speakers.
